FREE SHIPPING and HANDLING applies to all items domestically and internationally. All items and leather work are hand made, including imperfections. All heavy leather stitching, if any, is done by hand using old school, saddle stitching techniques. Items such as bags, clutches, etc. made of lighter leathers, say 6 oz. or less, may be hand stitched or machine-sewn. Even most (not all) of our jewelry findings are hand-made here in our shop to compliment the item being fabricated.

Nan and I don't make dozens and dozens of the same things from established patterns. All items in our ETSY Store marked "made to order" are custom items made for someone and sold. We include them as examples and guides for ordering your own custom item or you can send us a photo or sketch of something you'd like to have made and we'll design it for you. If all you have is an idea, talk to us about it and we'll sketch it up for you. You can message us here at ETSY, at our website or email us at bruce@gritcompany.com to discuss your needs. When we make something for you, it will be a one-of-a-kind item you'll never see the twin of. You may see something similar, but never identical.


GRIT COMPANY payment policy is per quoted pricing, ETSY policies and ETSY procedures. Grit Company offers FREE SHIPPING and HANDLING domestically and internationally. Sales tax will be added as appropriate per customer location.


FREE SHIPPING is included in Grit Company posted prices. Prices quoted include the item price along with standard shipping and handling costs. Faster does cost more than standard shipping.

Just contact me within: 7 days of delivery

Ship items back to me within: 14 days of delivery

Request a cancellation within: 4 hours of purchase

The following items can't be returned or exchanged

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:

  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)

Returns and exchange details

GRIT COMPANY does not have unsatisfied customers. If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase of a GRIT COMPANY product, return it undamaged within 15 calendar days and your purchase price will be refunded in full including standard service return shipping.

We tend to process shipments quickly, so if cancelling an order, please help us out by trying to do so within 4 hours. If that isn't possible please notify Bruce as noted below.

We guarantee all GRIT COMPANY products including custom orders and will refund the purchase price in full should you be less than pleased upon receipt of your item. We can't however, promise to re-make a custom order that has been returned (which has so far never happened). Our agreement to remake an item would be predicated on the reasons for dis-satisfaction and determination of our ability to understand and meet your expectation. Expectations are sometimes difficult to communicate and it's entirely possible for us to misunderstand what it is you really want. We do our best to take responsibility for these sorts of circumstances. Custom work always requires good communication between customer and shop - it goes with the territory.
